Arlington County Release Alert Systems
Virginia does not use one portal for every Arlington County release alert. Virginia Jail VINE is the VINELink channel for local and regional jail events. It is the first notification system to inspect for a person held by the Arlington County Sheriff's Office at the Arlington County Detention Facility. The selected record must identify Arlington or ACDF as the reporting agency before its event can be tied to local custody.
State custody is different. The Virginia Department of Corrections now uses NAAVI, short for Notification and Assistance for Victim Inclusion, for eligible state notifications. A Jail VINE subscription does not move with a person into VADOC. Registration must be made again through the state process. That split matters when a local notice says transfer rather than release. The person may have left ACDF and still remain confined under state authority.
Search Arlington County VINELink Records
A VINELink check is built around one person, not a list of everyone recently released in Arlington County. Start with the best spelling and any custody identifier already known. If the person still appears in the ACSO current-custody query, preserve the subject number, booking number, court, and docket number. Those details help separate similar names and remain useful after the public jail detail disappears.
- Open Virginia Jail VINE and use the person or offender search shown in the current interface.
- Enter the person's name and any available ID details. Review alternate spellings when a name has more than one common form.
- Compare all plausible matches. Do not choose a record from another Virginia jail merely because the name matches.
- Open the selected record and verify the reporting agency or facility is Arlington or ACDF.
- Read the exact status or event, then compare it with the latest court order and the ACSO booking or release record.
A no-result is inconclusive. It can reflect a spelling issue, processing lag, transfer, lack of current participation for that record, or the limits of the public search. Arlington County VINELink Release Fields
The live Virginia interface controls the precise labels. Research supports reading a selected Jail VINE record for identity, reporting agency or facility, and current custody status. The event may report release, transfer, escape or recapture, or death. Some participating jails may also report work release or home electronic monitoring, but those extra events should not be promised for Arlington without seeing them on the selected record.

The distinction between event and destination is central in Arlington County. Someone may leave ACDF for VADOC, another jail, the federal system, or another authorized custodian. Ask ACSO for the recorded release disposition and receiving agency when the public notice does not settle that question.
Register Arlington County Release Notices
Registration should be attached to the correct Arlington County person record. VINELink generally supports telephone, text, email, and in-app notices, but the options shown in the current Virginia screen control. Keep the confirmation. It provides a useful record of the agency, person, and delivery route chosen before a custody change occurs.
- Select the notification or registration control tied to the verified person record.
- Choose one of the delivery routes offered by the live Virginia interface.
- Enter the telephone number, email address, or app destination and complete the screen's verification step.
- If telephone registration asks for a four-digit PIN, create and save it. Use it to acknowledge an automated call.
- Review the person and reporting agency, finish registration, and retain the confirmation message.
The PIN instruction applies only when the telephone flow asks for one. Research did not establish that every text or email subscription requires a PIN. Virginia Jail VINE help is available at 1-800-467-4943. A person who needs more than one delivery route should follow the current interface rather than assume one registration covers all methods.
Note: Registration works best before the custody event, while the correct Arlington County record can still be verified against current identifiers.
VADOC Release Notices Use NAAVI
NAAVI is not a renamed local VINELink search. It is VADOC's separate notification route for eligible registrants when the person is under state authority. The VADOC notifications page lists anticipated release, actual release, completed transfer, work release, parole interview and decision, escape or recapture, death, and name change among covered state events.
An advanced release notice is usually sent about 30 days before the anticipated event. VADOC can send an update when the date changes. The actual release notice means VADOC custody ended, which is more precise than a forecast. Notifications stop after release. VADOC also states that registration and contact information are confidential. State-system help is available at 1-800-560-4292.

The captured portal reinforces the separate state route. It should be used only when VADOC custody and the registrant's eligibility fit the program.
Arlington County Transfer Alert Meaning
Virginia's official VINE workflow adds a sentence-length clue, but not a universal result. A person sentenced to less than 12 months ordinarily remains with a local or regional jail. When the active term is 12 months or more, VADOC takes custody and calculates time even if the person is still housed for a period at a local jail. The physical location and the legal custodian can therefore differ.
A local release or transfer alert may mark the end of ACSO's part of the custody chain. If VADOC has taken authority, search the current state locator by name or seven-digit DOC ID and register separately through NAAVI when eligible. The VADOC locator includes people in state institutions, state-responsible people in local or regional jails, probationers and parolees under district supervision, institutional-hospital placements, and Community Corrections Alternative Program participants.
Federal movement needs a different check. Someone held at ACDF for the federal judicial process may leave for a U.S. Marshals Service transfer, a BOP designation, or court-ordered release. BOP can report Released or Not in BOP Custody for records within its scope, but that ends only BOP custody and may leave another custodian. ICE's current locator is also not a historical release archive. Follow the event into the system that owns the next stage.
Note: The agency named in the alert defines its scope; a transfer event should lead to the destination system, not a release assumption.
Arlington County Victim Release Notices
Arlington adds a local layer for eligible victims. The Arlington Victim/Witness Program can assist with notice of release, escape, transfer, legal name change, or discharge. Its process expressly separates the ACDF form, which is filed with the Sheriff, from state-prison registration through VADOC.
This local program is not a public name-search database. Eligibility and case connection matter. A general user seeking one person's custody status should use Jail VINE and the official record owners. An eligible victim can use the local program alongside those systems, while preserving the distinction between a Sheriff notice and a VADOC notice.
The separate forms also prevent a common routing error. A notice request about local ACDF custody belongs with the Arlington Sheriff channel. Once VADOC takes authority, the state registration must be completed under VADOC rules.
Confirm Arlington County Release Alerts
VINELink has firm scope limits. It does not provide federal Bureau of Prisons release coverage. The BOP locator and federal docket are the correct sources for a federal person. ICE has its own current-detention locator, and the U.S. Marshals Service has no comparable public historical release database. Moving between systems can create a short gap while the destination record is processed.
For an adult formerly at ACDF, durable confirmation comes from the ACSO booking and release record plus the General District Court or Circuit Court order. The court shows the legal authority, such as bond, sentence, or disposition. ACSO supplies the actual local departure transaction. If the notice says transfer, check the named or likely destination custodian. A court-authorized release can precede physical jail processing, so time stamps should be compared.

Data can lag or conflict. Record the time each source was checked, then ask ACSO, led by Sheriff Jose Quiroz Jr. on the research date, about ACDF departure. Ask the clerk about the court order or VADOC about state custody. An unresolved mismatch should remain unresolved until the record owner confirms it.
